THE EU DEVELOPMENT COOPERATION POLICY
What business opportunities for SMEs?
Webinar, 29/10/2018 - h. 10.30
EU development policy seeks to foster the sustainable development of developing countries, with the primary aim of eradicating poverty.
It is a cornerstone of EU relations with the outside world and contributes to the objectives of EU external action – alongside foreign, security and trade policy (and international aspects of other policies like environment, agriculture and fisheries). Providing over 50% of all global development aid, the EU and its Member States are collectively the world's leading donor.
The EU combines different types of support to countries in need.
It provides funding in the form of grants to support projects and organisations furthering its development objectives.
It also offers public contracts and provides budget and sector support.
- Grants are direct financial contributions provided to organisations, or to projects carried out by them. Most of the time, the Commission attributes them through calls for proposals.
- Contracts are awarded through tendering procedures to purchase services, supplies or works.
Both contracts and grants are awarded for activities contributing to specific development goals.
During the 45 minutes session of the webinar we will analyze the business opportunities arising from this allocation of EU funds for development & cooperation actions directed to extra EU countries - for the procurement of consulting services, supplies and works as well as for project financing opportunities.
The webinar is organized in the framework of the SESAM project (www.sesamproject.eu ).
The project was initiated in 2017 and it provided knowledge and support that are necessary for a successful participation in public procurement within European Union.
