Cantine "Balbiano" has its roots in 1941 when its founder, Melchiorre Balbiano, decided to dedicate his life and work to the promotion of "Freisa di Chieri".
For more than 75 years, the love for the hills of Torino and its reference wine have been the distinctive traits of this winery.
Moreover, since 2009, the Balbiano family has been producing a unique wine from the grapes of one of the very few urban vineyards in the world: the "Villa della Regina" royal vineyard in Torino.
The wine is "Freisa di Chieri Superiore - Vigna Villa della Regina", produced in limited and numbered bottles.
To complete the "Balbiano" line-up, there are 3 different type of "Freisa", as well as "Bonarda", "Barbera", "Malvasia di Schierano", "Pelaverga" and some "Charmat method" sparkling wines.
"Freisa" is a niche grape in Piemonte cultivated in few and prestigious areas, in particular in the hills of Torino.
When vinified still, it gives life to full-bodied, fine and elegant wines, with soft tannins and a long spicy persistence.
An excellent red wine to pair with tasty meat dishes.
