At 1,300 metres in Usseglio in the Lanzo Valleys, "Melvi" is a small act of recovery.
Fabio, Giorgina, and three daughters with old family roots here chose to plant ancient traditions back into mountain soil. They grow rhubarb, heirloom Piemonte apples, and wild herbs in a place where nothing grows easily.
Every product carries the soul of that choice: to tend what others abandoned, to create something genuine from stone and stubbornness.
The rhubarb grows only here, resistant and vermillion-red, and from it comes everything else. Melvi is proof that you can rebuild a territory through craft and patience.
"Liquore Rabarbaro": serve it cold as an aperitivo with salty bites and light appetizers. The tartness pairs well with creamy cheeses and charcuterie. After dinner, drink it neat or with a splash of water. Works beautifully in a spritz with prosecco.
"RAB Aperitivo al Rabarbaro": approachable and social. Serve it over ice with a splash of soda water or prosecco. Perfect before a meal when you want something lighter, or mixed into cocktails with herbal notes.
"Melvi Rhubarb Dry Gin": think gin and tonic with a twist. The rhubarb brightness cuts through juniper. Pair it with seafood, white fish, or light vegetable dishes. Over ice with a citrus slice is the simplest way to enjoy it.
"Caramelle Morbide al Rabarbaro": these candies have real tartness, not sugar sweetness. They work between meals as palate cleansers, or alongside bitter espresso. Not a typical dessert candy, but something to appreciate on its own.
"Liquore alle Erbe": camomile and lavender work as digestivos after rich meals. Lemongrass pairs with Asian flavours. Thyme brings earthiness and goes well with roasted vegetables and game. Serve cold or at room temperature.
